SUDDEN ASPEN DEICLINE

It seems that an epidemic of Bark Beetles isn't enough of a problem for Colorado forests. In many parts of the state Aspen are dying at unprecedented rates as well. The US Forest Service has published a pretty good bulletin that answers many of the questions that landowners have. Click on the following link to read it :http://www.aspensite.org/SAD/sad_faqs.pdf

Note the map on page 2 of the bulletin to see if there has been an outbreak spotted in your area. The results of the 2009 aerial survey will be published in a few months and we'll let you know how things have changed.

Join Us if you would like to go on our tours, question our experts, or share information on forest ecology and forest management with our members

.

Landowners who attend one of our tours in 2009 will receive the Colorado Tree Farmer's forest management manual, "Saving Your Forest". Currently certified Tree Farmers can get a manual by bringing a neighbor or friend to one of our tours.
